Organic Today
At County Line Farms, the adjective “organic” is not just a phrase or marketing gimmick, but a true standard for our milk and the resulting products. We distribute the finest organic milk and dairy products in the Southwest. Part of our mission is to educate our customers about the benefits of drinking and eating organic and local foods.
Many topics about organics of all kinds can be reviewed at www.organicconsumers.org.
What is Organic Dairy Farming?
Organic dairy farming means no toxic, chemical pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers or other additives have been used in production or on the pasture lands that the herd grazes. Cows must have total access to organic pastures for grazing and lounging that have been certified organic by any one of several agencies.
Our farm is certified organic by the Texas Department of Agriculture and our products proudly display the USDA Organic certification logo. Organic farming and sustainable agriculture include crop rotation, planting cover crops, water conservation, and manure for fertilization. It means animal illnesses are prevented by good nutrition and low stress living conditions.
With our consistent monitoring of what our herd eats, the milk is higher in the good fatty acids and maintains a superior shelf life.
